Continuing with Karthigai Deepam it is celebrated on the full moon day in the  Tamil month Karthigai when the moon is in the constellation, Krithika.  Earthen lamps with oil are lit in  the evening in  many houses and the cities and towns are brightly lit.  In cities where many live in apartments, it is common to see lamps lit around the rangoli at the  entrance,on the staircase and in the sit-outs. In Tamil Nadu it is celebrated with the same fervour as Diwali

The video shows how to draw the rangoli

In the town, Thiruannamalai  famous for the temple of Arunachaleshwara it is celebrated as Mahadeepam or Annamalai Deepam. The first rangoli is  a simple lamp design with some decorations.  The second rangoli is a rangoli with dots.  The dot pattern is any number of rows and any number of columns i.e we can have 6 dot by 5 dot or 7 by 6 etc. to suit the size of the rangoli we need to draw.  The dots are connected as shown in the video row by row with white rangoli powder.  then add pink colour on the designs and the 'jyothi' as shown in the image above to get the final design.  This type of rangoli has also been drawn elsewhere in this blog.
