Flower rangoli designs

Floral designs are one of the most used in rangoli design. Obviously, we are heavily dependent on nature for our rangoli designs. The next important festivals are Holi and Ugadi in 2013.  Holi is a festival of colours celebrating the arrival of spring among other things.  There are also many legends associated with it.  Probably colours are used abundantly during Holi because during spring we see the  colourful flowers blooming every where (It is my opinion or guess!) (Colourful) rangolis will be congruous with colourful Holi.

The videos of some rangolis above showing the step by step method of drawing this rangoli.  Usually I upload the plain video with a photo of the rangoli design filled with colours at the end because if I add the colours filling up portion in all videos they may become very long.  I hope it is alright. The first rangoli the circle at the centre is drawn. Floral petals are drawn around the circle opposite to one another to get as many petals as closely as possible to get the floral design. Decorate the edges of the petals as shown. Draw floral designs and other motifs as border to this rangoli and finally fill with colours to get the image shown above.

The next video shows another free hand rangoli.  As usual draw the central rangoli design first and then draw the free hand floral patterns and then fill the gaps with designs of your choice to get the final design.  Fill with the colours to get the image of rangoli shown at the top.

Holi is associated with colours hence more rangolis are available in Margazhi kolam collection that are colourful and the post on Pulli kolam designs has some rangoli with dots.
