One more kolam for this Karthigai Deepam.  A simple design and similar to a rangoli  drawn in an earlier post. The first one  is a simple freehand design with deepams and swastik.  Freehand or rangoli with dots, swastik and deepams form an important role in an Indian rangoli. Draw a swastik at the centre an develop the pattern to get the central orange design.  Now draw deepams or lamps on each edge.  Complete the rangoli with suitable colours to get the desired finish.  The second rangoli is also a simple design with dots.  The number of dots can be decided by us since it is a repetitive design..  This video shared elsewhere in this blog shows how to draw the above design.  I have used a do template of 6 dots to 5 in this video.  The rangoli can be left plain with colours added only to the flame (or jyothi).

We have discovered some visual art forms in this world to  form a collage (or college!) of arts.  So far,  some of the art forms discovered are from Mexico, Ukraine, Russia, China, Japan and USA (and  Europe).

Update:  For more diya type rangoli please go to Diya rangolis for Diwali and Diya based rangolis for Diwali
For more free hand rangolis go to Margazhi kolam collection or colourful rangoli designs
